About Us

Alvaray was born in Los Angeles County and raised in Inglewood California. In 1978 at the tender age of 14 she lost 27 family members to James Warren Jones in Jonestown, Guyana. She is a survivor of the People's Temple Church. Alvaray's life was severely impacted by the loss of her family members and she later ran awa from her home. With a lack of guidance or support Alvaray learned quickly that street life had no rules and therfore took on the by all means necessary approach to survive. She learned the hard way when she turned to drugs which landed her behind bars. From there Alvaray finally came to a still place where she found Jesus Christ. This is where she learned humility and how to love others. She later joined The Power of Faith Coummunity Church in Pomona California under the direction of Pastor Frank Oliver who became a postiive motivating force in her life as well as his mom Sister Joyce Stewart. This fuled Alvaray's passion as she made a promise to herself to live her life differently and help others who struggled with life due to the lack of guidance and support which later birthed God Chose Us Community Resource Center in April of 2020. Alvaray dedicated 10 pluse years of her life providing help to the low income areas of her community. Alvaray has become a natural born humanitarian deidicated to feeding people, providing gently used clothing to individuals, and families in need as well as host her inglewood Annual Recovery BBQ. Her mission has allowed her to restore faith and hope in the Inglewood Community and helping people live prductive lifestyles.
